Our Experience

Oteca was founded by Ben Tomlinson, bringing over 30 years of experience in Automation and Control Systems across a wide range of industries. From hands-on engineering roles through to leading complex technical projects and programmes, this experience shapes how we approach every project, with practical understanding, strong technical leadership, and a focus on delivering reliable solutions.

With more than 12 years’ experience working on Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) for water industry projects in North West England, we have a strong understanding of end customer engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and the associated challenges of delivering projects on operational assets.

Operational Technology Expertise

Our work centres on a wide range of Operational Technology (OT) systems, integrating civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation assets into a fully functioning process. This includes:
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Industrial communication networks (fibre optic and copper infrastructure)
  • SCADA and Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems
  • Telemetry and remote monitoring solutions

By doing so, we help ensure that users, management and external bodies have access to the information they need to run and manage their assets with confidence.

Our work is carried out on live operational sites, with experienced engineers on site providing strong technical understanding and collaborating closely with site teams to minimise disruption and maintain safe, continuous operation.

Project Delivery

Oteca works closely with customers to translate process requirements into site-specific OT solutions. We coordinate specialist subcontractors and suppliers to deliver software, control panels and installation works in line with customer standards and project lifecycles.

Our approach is collaborative and hands-on, with a focus on quality, clear communication and delivering solutions that our customers and our team can depend on.
